About AMS at UAHuntsville
We are a student-led organization whose purpose is to join
together the students from the UAH Atmospheric Science Department
through education, research, outreach, and social events. Our group is
made up of almost 50 students from different backgrounds all over the
world including the United States, India, South Africa, and China. Our
department is involved in various kinds of research that includes
climate change, atmospheric chemistry, lightning, hurricanes, severe
weather, aviation safety, and air pollution.
We are located in north Alabama, home of the 4th largest
research park in the world, where some of the finest research
facilities are down the street or simply down the hall! Students have
the opportunity to conduct research with other scientists and
forecasters from NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center and the NOAA/NWS
Forecast Office. You can obtain your M.S. or your Ph.D. in atmospheric
science here with a background in meteorology, physics, chemistry,
mathematics, engineering, or any other related science. The university
has also recently added a B.S. in Earth System Science with 7 specialty
tracks.
During their spare time, the students here enjoy socializing
together through playing intramural sports, visiting the local art
shows, traveling around north Alabama picking pumpkins, or simply just
hanging out together. So, check us out and feel free to email any of us
with any questions regarding our research, classes, or UAH in general.
