"Review of NASA Applied Science Disasters Program"
Presentation by: Michael Goodman (NASA/MSFC)

Abstract: NASA Earth Science research contributes to the understanding of Earth system processes that produce natural hazards that can lead to disasters. In the course of this research, NASA-developed technology and knowledge can be applied to disaster response and assessments of vulnerabilities. In addition, disasters present distinct opportunities for scientific research, data collection, and technology demonstrations. Thus, while supporting disaster response, NASA also seeks ways to improve scientific understanding to aid in future disasters response. An overview of NASA’s Applied Sciences Disasters Program will be presented with examples of recent responses and a look at future research activities.
